There are many initiatives the hospital is pursuing to improve cancer treatment. This includes purchasing a Cone Beam CT Scanner (neck & head), nuclear medicine scanner and a transportable MRI to improve access to scans in the province. The QE11 is also enhancing precision oncology, which customizes treatment based on the genetic makeup and molecular profile of each patient. Furthermore, the province is developing an app that allows patients to view upcoming appointments, track symptoms and have direct access to their cancer care team.
