The Palliative Care Push

By Craig Flemming

In honour of someone special

Halifax radio and TV announcer Clary Flemming passed September 30th while in palliative care.

We are raising awareness to the need of Palliative Care facilities and services in Nova Scotia and would ask you to consider donating on behalf of Clary Flemming to this worthwhile cause.

More on Clary as told by good friend Ian Robinson…

Clary was a Halifax media icon for decades as he was heard on radio and seen on TV.

His radio journey included stops at CJCH in Halifax, and at the young age of 24 was Program Director of CFDR in Dartmouth.

To another generation, he was known as the host of Wrestling on ATV, where he would interview “the good guys” like: The Beast, Leo Burke, Rudy Kay, Leapin’ Lanny, and many more, plus “the bad guys” including the Cuban Assassin, Bulldog Bob Brown and of course the legendary Killer Karl Krupp!

Clary, for decades, was also “The voice of Sobeys” commercials on radio and TV around the Maritimes. He was also a producer of the 1987 classic “Sobeys: Star of Christmas” jingle.

As well, Clary was a track announcer for harness racing at Sackville Downs in Lower Sackville, as well as the voice of the Nova Scotia International Tattoo at the Metro Centre/Scotiabank Centre.

Clary was also a talented athlete, playing baseball as well hockey the Halifax Wanderers and St. Mary’s University hockey teams in the 1950’s.
