Welcome!

Hey! I'm Jess and I've put together this page to raise funds in honour of my granddad for other cancer patients. 

For those that don't know me, I just lost my granddad this last January to colon cancer, and it affected me quite a lot. To me, he was always my hero and he was the most selfless person I've ever met. With this fundraiser I hope to be able to help other cancer patients and their families.

All proceeds of this page will go to CT simulation technology. This machine is the first step in radiotherapy treatments, and a step all cancer patients must undergo. There is currently only one CT simulator machine at the QEII Center; which means a long wait for an appointment. The goal is to add a second machine to decrease this wait, and hopefully see more patients! I have attached an information sheet if anyone was interested in reading some more about this vital technology.

So what is this all about? Well, I am a cross country runner in some serious need of motivation! I race 6 kilometers and my goal is to get to a time of around 27 minutes for the entire race. I'm currently at about 40. So I ask that you follow my journey and every time I beat my record, please join me in donating! It doesn't have to be much, anything helps! The season officially starts in September and I'll be recording my progress here and on facebook so wish me luck! And let's do some good at the same time :)

Race 2 Results

Sunday 2nd Oct
Today was Race 2 and it was a tough one. Between battling a pulled quad and dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Fiona, I really didn’t train as hard as I would have liked. I can’t be too hard on myself though because compared to where I was a year ago today I’m doing great :) Official time was 41:08.

Race 1/4 done! I'm super happy with my results, really proud of what I was able to accomplish, can't wait to see what comes next! I knocked over 5 minutes off my best time, hoping to get donations for a dollar per minute this time round!
