Run for Coronary Care

By Shayne Campbell

I am accepting donations to support the Coronary Care Unit at the Halifax Infirmary. To the team in the Coronary Care Unit thank you so much for saving my dad’s life. My family and I truly appreciate the work that you do on a day to day basis. Also, to the fantastic Surgical Staff led by Dr. Quraishi, thank you for helping us during uncertain times.

My Updates

First Run Complete

Monday 26th Aug
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give a quick update. I wanted to start by thanking everyone again for the generous donations. I look forward to connecting with you all shortly. Every one of you have played an important role in helping us reach our donation goal for the CCU at the QE2. Yesterday marked the first of two half marathons I am running to raise donations for two charities very near and dear to us now. It was an honour to be greeted at the finish line by my dad as I completed my first half marathon (pictured above). It definitely gave me an extra push to see him there supporting me like he has my whole life. Again, I want to thank you all and we will continue to take life on day at a time!

Update Number 4

Saturday 24th Aug
Hi Everyone,

Thank you again to everyone for the amazing donations. My family and I are truly luck and blessed by all the support you have shown! I can’t wait to thank each and every one of you personally for helping us reach this goal for the Coronary Care Unit at the QE2. Everyone in the unit from the surgeons to the nurses treated my dad amazingly and looked after us all during our long stay.

While we still have many battles ahead, in my dad’s words we will take it day by day.

Tomorrow is run day, I could not be more excited to represent you all and my family in my first half marathon.

I wanted to take the time to thank you all again, for making this fundraising goal possible.

Much love,
The Campbell’s

Update #3

Monday 19th Aug
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who took the time to make a donation so far. I will also be taking the time to thank each one of you individually. My family and I really do appreciate all the support. I look forward to running the first leg of the half marathons this weekend here in Truro.

I just wanted to give everyone an update that my dad is still at home with us and is doing pretty well. With all your support the runs have given him something to look forward too, along with watching baseball. He is happy to be home as we will continue our search for home care to help give my mom a break as well. My dad finds a lot of love by the support he has received. We will continue to have him enjoy his good days by continuing to do the things that he loves to do.

Thank you again for all your support, it really means the world to my family and I.

Update number 4 will be posted soon.

Thanks again,
Shayne

Update #2

Saturday 10th Aug
Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all the amazing donations. It truly warms my families heart to feel all the love and support for my dad.

We are fortunate to have my dad back at home now. He is resting and doing well, all things considered. He is truly touched by everyone generosity. While he still has a fight ahead of him, all your love and support goes a long way.

I look forward to running the first half marathon on August 25th to support a great cause.

Update

Thursday 8th Aug
Hi Everyone,

Again welcome to my fundraising page to help raise funds for the Coronary Care Unit at the QE2.

I wanted to give a quick update as my dad is still in the hospital but has been transported to the local hospital. We are hopeful to have home back home soon as the last 14 days have been a whirl wind. Please, if you can, help me raise funds to support the CCU unit who helped save my dads life, and helped us make tough decisions. I look forward to running the half marathon on August 25th in order to help raise awareness for Coronary Care and Heart Health.

Thank you for your support
